Surgery is recommended only after detailed clinical evaluation and diagnostic confirmation. When non-surgical or medical treatments are safe and effective, they are always considered first. Dr. Soumya Pal will explain the necessity and benefits before any procedure.
Yes, laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery is a widely practiced, safe and minimally invasive approach. It typically results in significantly smaller scars, lesser post-operative pain, minimal blood loss and a much faster return to routine daily activities compared to open surgery.
Recovery duration varies with the type of surgery performed. For most common laparoscopic surgeries, patients are discharged within 24 to 48 hours and resume light household activities within a week. Detailed recovery milestones are provided prior to discharge.
Gentle walking is encouraged from the very next day of surgery. Desk work and routine walking can usually resume within 5 to 7 days. Strenuous workouts, heavy lifting, or intense physical exertion should be avoided for 3 to 4 weeks, as guided during follow-up.
